Police Arrest Seven Suspects In Abuja After Local Miners Raped 13-Year-Old Girl To Death

A13-year-old girl has been allegedly raped to death by local miners in the Tipper Garage area of Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Ibrahim Ciroma, Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), confirmed the tragic news on Sunday.
Ciroma reported that the girl, who had gone out to hawk milk on Thursday, was initially reported missing. Her body was discovered at the Tipper Garage area the following day, Daily Trust reports.
He stated that her corpse showed signs of severe trauma, with her private parts stained with blood.
However, a medical examination at the hospital confirmed she had been raped.
Ciroma added that the police have been notified, and some miners suspected of being involved in the crime have been arrested.
Meanwhile, the incident nearly escalated into violence when herders mobilized to confront the miners. However, prompt intervention by security forces prevented further conflict.
FCT Police Command spokeswoman, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that seven suspects were currently in custody.
