PDP’s Crisis Deepens as Factional Group Launches Search for Sitting Governor Replacement
Atunto Osun” Mobilizes Party Faithfuls in Unprecedented Move In a development that has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of Osun State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is grappling with an internal crisis as the factional group, “Atunto Osun,” spearheaded by Prince Dotun Babayemi, has embarked on a mission to identify a successor for the current Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
“Atunto Osun” has issued a rallying call to all party faithfuls and its supporters, urging them to actively participate in the quest to find a suitable candidate who will rescue Osun people from the hands of Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming 2026 Governorship election.
According to one of the founding member named Jake Luis who took to his Facebook platform after the program said “Atunto Osun” is a movement which aims at repositioning Osun State Politically and Economically for the betterment of its people. It’s a convergence of like minded individuals who are out for the good of the people of the state, especially the less privileged. Its membership cuts across various political and religious boundaries.
The modus operandi of Atunto Osun is basically skewed towards having a better Osun through a dedicated participation devoid of political, religious or cultural learnings. It’s for all well intentioned indigenes and non- indigenes in the state” The move signals a deep-seated discord within the party, raising questions about the cohesion and unity among its members.
The event unfolded today at Freedom Park Osogbo, where the factional group held a gathering that drew the attention of political observers and party insiders alike. Among the attendees were influential figures within the PDP, often referred to as the party’s bigwigs.
The presence of these key personalities at the meeting underscores the significance of the unfolding crisis and the potential implications it may have on the party’s future.
