The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who left the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oborevwori defected to APC alongside former governor and 2023 PDP vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa including other PDP stakeholders.

Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Amb. Umar Damagum, while reacting to the defection expressed party’s disappointment, calling Oborevwori’s departure a painful loss.

He spoke during the presentation of a certificate of return to Chief Ezenwafor Jude, the party’s candidate for the upcoming Anambra state governorship election on November 8.

However, Damagum reassured supporters that the PDP would quickly reclaim control of Delta’s political structure.

Damagum also made remarks on the national level, warning that while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have certain political strategies, he does not hold ultimate power over the 2027 elections.

The Acting Chairman declared that the 2027 election would be a battle between the APC and the Nigerian people.
