The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally endorsed Sunday Ude-Okoye as the rightful National Secretary of the party, in full compliance with a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal. This decision marks a resolution to the ongoing dispute over the position and brings clarity to the party’s leadership structure.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, during a press conference held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Ologunagba confirmed that the party had received the official Court of Appeal ruling, which reaffirmed Ude-Okoye’s appointment as the National Secretary. He further emphasized that, in line with the party’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, the PDP will fully respect and implement the court’s directive.
Ologunagba also highlighted that the party, as a law-abiding institution, is dedicated to ensuring that all judicial rulings are followed without hesitation. He reiterated that the party’s decision to accept the court’s ruling was in keeping with its principles of fairness and legal integrity.
This declaration effectively puts an end to the controversy surrounding the position of National Secretary, particularly the challenges posed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who had previously laid claim to the role.
With the Court of Appeal’s ruling now firmly in place, Ude-Okoye’s appointment as the authentic National Secretary of the PDP is now conclusively recognized, settling any doubts regarding the party’s leadership.
