In a letter to the speaker of the house conveying his resignation from the PDP, Hon. Nweke said he ditched his former platform is “predicated on the deep division and polarisation in the party from National to state levels.”

He also informed the speaker that he had resigned from the PDP in a letter dated “12th of March 2025 which was received and endorsed by the chairman of PDP in my ward the same day.”

On his choice of Labour Party, the lawmaker stated that he joined the party after consulting with his constituents and as a result of the performance of the state Governor.

“After due consultation with my constituents, and in recognition of the sterling performance of our dear governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, I have picked up the membership of the Labour party and have now become a member of the Labour Party.

“I therefore wish to be accorded recognitions going forward as a member of Labour Party. Please accept the assurances of my highest esteem at all times for your office, your person and this noble and honourable House.”
