P. Diddy: You are not an oppressor, VDM tells Burna Boy
Grammy award-winning Burna Boy is not known to be an oppressor following what he preaches in his music.
But days back, the Afro-fusion was alleged to have instigated the arrest of his colleague, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, for alleged defamation and cyberstalking.
Speed Darlington’s arrest sparked negative reactions on social media, with many calling out Burna Boy for indulging in what he preaches against in his music.
Social media activist, Verydarkman expressed disappointment in Burna Boy, stating that the self-acclaimed ‘African Giant’ was not known to be an oppressor. “Burna Boy you are not an oppressor, sue the guy and handle it as a civil case “VDM stated, adding “everyone has the right to freedom of speech but if your right is breached you should take the matter up”
Trouble started after the outspoken singer, in a viral video, allegedly mocked Burna Boy’s association with American rapper Diddy, who the FBI arrested on multiple charges, including sexual exploitation.
In the video, Speed Darlington challenged Burna Boy to explain how he got his Grammy award for his fifth album, ‘Twice As Tall’, released in 2020 and produced by P Diddy and Burna Boy’s Mother, Bose Ogulu. Disturbed by the singer’s outburst, Burna Boy wrote a petition against him leading to his arrest last Friday.
Speed Darlington was however released on Tuesday night following an intervention by Mr Adeyanju after meeting the bail conditions set by the police in Abuja. Speed Darlington’s plight was brought to the public after his mother in a viral video alleged that Burna Boy orchestrated her son’s arrest due to a video he posted on his social media. Hours after Speed Darlington was declared missing on social media, Burna Boy posted on his X a provocative tweet, ‘Who’s missing?’ The tweet confirmed fans’ suspicion that he knew the whereabouts of the controversial singer.
