OUR ENCOUNTER WITH TIMEHIN ADELEGBE

OLGASU;A student’s union that oversees the welfarism,interest and general affairs of the entire Students of Owo Local Government at home and in diaspora.
As a recognized indigenous Students Union body that is conscious of the fact that we are not to participate in partisan politics, we will love to make it clear to the general public that our show of concern is not to tarnish the political image of Hon. Timehin Adelegbe, but should be seen as a challenge and expression of dissatisfaction from the Students of one of the Local Government Areas he represents at the National Assembly.
We intentionally decided to let things go down for a while after the first publication against him. Our actions was not out of fear neither was it because we got sold out. We only decided to respect the dignitaries that intervened and promised that they will talk to him to fulfill his promises to the Students of Owo Local Government Area. We don’t have any doubt in the capacity of those who intervened, we know very well what they represent and can do but we thank God that the Dishonest MHR still showed them his true colors by not listening to them nor making corrections.
Going forward, we will love to explain in details again, how the meeting we held with Adelegbe, went on the 7th of March. And this time, we will be mentioning names for credibility check.
The National leadership led a 5 man team to Hon. Timilehin Adelegbe hotel in Akure and the representatives are; Comr. Ojigbo Adewunmi (National President), Rt. Hon. Asolo Adekunle (National Speaker), Comr. Amubioya Iyanuoluwa (National Vice President), Comr. Emmanuel S. Amos (National Secretary General), Comr. Oladele Rauf (National P.R.O.). When the MHR joined the meeting, we explained our agitations to him. He (Adelegbe) started his speech by looking for excuses to justify his failure to attend to the Students in his constituency. And at some point, he accepted his faults and he said that he has tried all his best to make sure he touches every community in the constituency and he said; ” I’ve spent over 200 million naira to build the hall of fame in Owo”. So he’s not expecting us to say we have not seen his impact in our community. Then we pushed it back to him that, building of hall of fame shouldn’t stop him from attending to other needs of the people most especially the student community. We have up to Nine (9) major communities and several sub-communities that makes up Owo Local Government? We will also love every conscious mind out there reading this piece to answer that question.
After a lot of discussions ranging from his blind and prideful justifications to our firm expressions of pains and grievances, he agreed to give the Union a bus, grant the Students bursary awards and also produce 20,000 copies of Notebooks. Right there in his hotel compound, we met more than 25 vehicles and one of the representatives of the Union asked that he should give us one of the vehicles, while we anticipate the fulfillment of the remaining promises he made. The MHR refused by saying that he has not started the allocation of the vehicles to the people he wishes to give. Then later he lied to us that he does not know where he kept the keys to the vehicle we asked for. We decided to believe him until he proves otherwise.
After several weeks of waiting and expecting a positive feedback from the MHR, without a single acknowledgment of either the letters written to him or calls passed across, we met his aides and they categorically told us that; Adelegbe said we do not have any electoral value to add to his political ambitions. They tried to make him see several points but he declined every form of plea. And that was part of what made us release our first publication against him.
More so, after the first publication we made, we received several calls from sons and daughters of the soil that are well placed. They told us to give them chance to talk to the MHR and that they will ensure he fulfills his promises. But since then, we didn’t hear anything about it. We have no doubts about them meeting him, but we clearly know that he has proven his lack of leadership traits to them and that is the exact reason they don’t know what to say to us anymore, as they can’t incite us against him.
Adelegbe has not contributed anything to the growth of the Students of Owo Local Government Area, neither is he seeing us a an important part of the public he governs. And henceforth, the Entire Students of Owo will regard him as their enemy. We hereby dissociate from everything that concerns the dishonorable MHR and we pass a vote of no confidence on him. He is a failure in all ramifications. He has not contributed anything to us and we are still surviving, definitely our dissociation from him won’t remove a strand of hair from us.
Timehin Adelegbe has failed us all!
