Following the difficulties being faced by the Ondo State government to meet its financial occasions, especially payment of workers salaries, it has taken the step towards raising additional funds from the local government areas.
The State Executive Council has approved the disposal of all unserviceable assets and items in all the 18 local governments in the State.
Our heritage reporter learnt that a circular to this effect was recently sent to all the Chairmen of the council areas informing them of the decision of the state government to sell off the old assets.
A letter addressed to the LG chairmen and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. S.O. Afonja, disclosed that the government has appointed a private company to inspect and purchase all unserviceable items like machineries, vehicles, scraps and metals.
