—-LUKMAN Adeyemi is the sole candidate of the ward, Obunkeko can’t rule twice- Says Ajoji Parapo

The Ajoji Parapo, a prominent sociocultural group in Ward 2 of Ondo West Local Government Area, conducted traditional prayers and rituals earlier today to seek divine favor ahead of the upcoming local government elections. The prayers, held in Ondo, were aimed at ensuring peaceful and successful elections.

During the event, the group reiterated its unflinching commitment to the longstanding principle of rotating elective leadership positions among the various communities within the ward. This rotational system, dating back to the 1950s, has been instrumental in promoting unity, equity, and balanced development across the ward.

The group emphasized that adherence to this tradition promotes inclusivity and ensures that all communities have a fair opportunity to participate in governance. They called on all political stakeholders, especially the ruling party (APC), and community members to respect and uphold this principle during the forthcoming elections, highlighting its importance in maintaining harmony and collective progress.

Ajoji Parapo further clarified that the next turn in the rotational arrangement belongs to Temidire Village, which has not yet held this leadership position. The group affirmed that Lukman Adeyemi, the sole aspirant from Temidire, is their preferred candidate for the upcoming election. They stressed the need for all APC leaders in Ondo West to recognize and act in accordance with this decision.

The group warned that any attempt to allow Obunkeko Village to retain the position for a second time would be an injustice to the longstanding principles of fairness and equity, as well as an affront to the collective intelligence of the people of Ward 2.

The group also appealed to the gods of the land for guidance and blessings, expressing hope that the elections will be conducted peacefully and result in leadership that reflects the shared values and aspirations of the people in Ward 2.

As the local government elections approach, Ajoji Parapo’s reaffirmation of rotational leadership reiterates the community’s dedication to sustaining traditions that have long contributed to the stability and development of Ondo West Local Government Area.
