“We have carefully ensured that only practicing fashion designers within the federal constituency were selected to benefit from this training and the empowerment programme. We desire to make positive impact in the lives of our people by ensuring that these modern sewing machines are only given to the end users and not to people that will collect and resell”.

Moreso, the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army also stressed that the empowerment has no semblance of political colouration. He added that the beneficiaries were mainly selected on the basis of their profession without given any consideration to political affiliation or sentiment.

“My life philosophy is to teach people how to fish and not to give them fish. However, because of our determination to root out poverty from our constituency, we have resorted to teaching our fashion designers how to fish and we are also giving them some fishes”.

Meanwhile, Adefisoye has assured that the training and empowerment programme was just one out of the series he has lined -up for the economic wellbeing of his constituents.

“This is just one out of our target driven empowerment programmes. This is just the tip of an iceberg as the first of its kind empowerment programme is still loading. But, we are deliberately cautious in ensuring that only the targeted groups of artisans will be allowed to benefit from our series of empowerment programmes.

“Importance is attached to this programme because I have personally spent some good money on getting some outfits sewn in recent time. I can therefore conclude that there is no better time for this particular empowerment than this time of festival period”.

While appreciating the kind gesture of the lawmaker, Joke Alimi who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries thanked Adefisoye for the well intended empowerment programme.

“We are thankful to Small Alhaji for the opportunity giving to us to benefit from this empowerment programme even without lobbying anyone. This has come to us on a platter of gold. He is a promise keeper and a performing lawmaker whose major concern is the wellbeing of his constituents. I am confident that his consistent kind gestures and outstanding performance will continue to stand him out”, said Alimi.
