Ondo Electoral Body Releases Candidate List With Particulars ahead of LG election

 

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has released the approved publication of particulars and the list of candidates submitted by political parties in the 18 local government areas of the state for the January 18,2025 council elections

According to the Commission, the list of chairmanship candidates has been pasted at the headquarters of the Commission today, Friday, December 20, 2024.

While the list of councilorship candidates has also been pasted at the various local governnent offices of the Commission.

This was disclosed during a meeting that the Chairman of ODIEC, Dr. Joseph Aremo held with the Electoral Officers of the Commission in the 18 Local Government Areas of the State in Akure, the state capital.

Dr Aremo announced that the verification of chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates would be conducted on Monday , December 23 2024, at the headquarters, while the verification of councilorship candidates would take place at the various local government offices of ODIEC.

Campaigns by political parties would commence on Thursday, December 26, 2024, and would run till Thursday, January 16, 2025.

The publication of the list of validated candidates would be released on Friday, December 27, 2024.

The Chairman also stated that ad-hoc staff applications would begin at the headquarters and various local government offices of the Commission on December 27, 2024 to Monday January 6, 2025

The Chairman thereby urged any person interested in working with ODIEC as ad-hoc staff to apply, through the Electoral Officers of each Local Government or the Office of the Director of Operations at the headquarters.

While urging the Electoral Officers to act as impartial umpire, the Chairman stated that ODIEC was determined to conduct an election that is free, fair, transparent and credible that would serve as benchmark for Africa.
