Within the week, Hon. Okere Ujunwa Kelechi, the Cordinator of Owerri South development center, together with other stakeholders in the LGA , in line with the Governor’s directives and 3R mantra Inaugurated Members of Owerri South Development centers, that will help take government polices and projects to grassroot.
The inauguration which witnessed mammoth crowd took place at Owerri South Development centers office Okolochi on the 13th July, 2022 was well attended amidst Jubilations.
The members of this Development centers Inaugurated on the 13th July, 2022 as approved by His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma the executive Governor of Imo state as Gaztted in Government Newspaper Publication in Statesman VOL 12 NO. 117 Wednesday April 27, 2022 Page 8-9 Includes:

In his opening speech, Okere affirmed that, this Local Government Development center was created by His Excellency, Governor Achike Udenwa in 2005 in order to bring the government nearer to the grassroots and reduce the burden of the parent local governments which according to him, triumphed and people witnessed massive progress and development at grassroot Level.
“The good work of the government at the state level was transmitted to the grassroots immediately without delay through the development centers, “Unfortunately, the development centers suffered huge setbacks and later went moribund under the administration of His Excellencies, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and Hon. Emeka Ihedioha” he asserted.
He continued, that history has been made, as Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, in his purposeful and visionary leadership resurrected and reconstituted the local government development centers by amending Imo State Local Government Development Areas Administration Law No.3 of 2005 and passed it into law through the state legislature after increasing the number from Forty-Four to Fifty-Two.
Okere, used the medium to expressed his profound gratitude and sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma for his leadership acumen and people-oriented policies, especially in the reconstitution of the 52 Local Government Development Centers and his magnanimity in appointing him ( Hon. Okere Ujunwa) as the Coordinator for Owerri South Development Center.
Still in his opening remarks, he reminded all and sundry that Owerri South was carved out of Owerri West in 2005 under the pioneer leadership of Barr C.J. Ihemedu as he sincerely thank him for contributing his quota towards the development of Owerri South, “We all know that government is a continuum” he added
Best option as he is popurly called, vowed to work assiduously in synergy with the 3R’s Mantra development blueprint ofin the promotion of the shared prosperity policies of governor Hope Uzodimma at the grassroots.
Ujunwa, further stated that, the just Inaugurated Members cannot work in isolation rather they will work in synergy with President Generals in complaince to the Government directives.
Rounding off his, he appreciated in a very special way, the General Overseer of CampHope organization worldwide Hon. High Chief Canice Moore Nwachukwu and the Imo state party Chairman of All Progressive Congress, Hon. MacDonald Ebere.
The occasion was graced by prominent Traditional Rulers, Political leaders, IMC Chairman and members, Stakeholders, and Religious leaders.
