Nobody arranged miracle with me, says woman in Zion testimony scandal
A woman at the centre of a controversial false testimony scandal at Zion Prayer Ministry, Loveth Helen, has denied the allegations levelled against her after being taken to court.
Helen was arraigned at the Enugu North Magistrate Court on charges of defamation, conspiracy, felony and false pretence.
She had claimed that after prayers from Evangelist Ebuka Obi, she purchased a five-bedroom duplex.
However, it was later discovered that the property belonged to one Emmanuel Asogwa, leading to legal action against her.
During her court appearance on Tuesday, Helen pleaded not guilty to the charges.
One of the charges against her reads, “That you, Loveth Alo Helen, on the 26th day of February 2025, at Plot 16 WTC Estate, Enugu, in the Enugu North Magisterial District, did by false pretence and with intent to defraud, present yourself as the owner of a five-bedroom duplex belonging to one Arch. Emmanuel Asogwa, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 460 of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria, 2004.”
Her lawyer, Charles Nwodo, requested bail, which the police prosecutor did not oppose.
The presiding magistrate, S.O. Chukwuani, granted her bail at ₦1 million, with a condition that she must provide a surety with three years of tax clearance.
The case was then adjourned to April 9, 2025, for the next hearing.
Speaking after the hearing, Helen denied being part of any scheme to deceive people, insisting that her testimony was based on faith, not fraud.
“I did the testimony claiming that I will get it. Nobody arranged anything with me, I did not collect anything from anybody.
“I went for an inspection of the house, and we were processing to get it, so I told them that I’m coming,” she stated.
