No life lost as truck crashes into BRT lane in Lagos
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) says a fully loaded Dangote cement truck has crashed into a BRT corridor at Demurin junction in Mile 12 area of the state.
In a statement on Sunday, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA’s director of public relations and enlightenment, said the incident occurred due to brake failure.
Taofiq said the truck, travelling at high speed, veered into the BRT lane, and the driver fled the scene, fearing he had hit commuters.
He added that no one was injured or killed in the accident.
“LASTMA’s rescue team quickly responded to the situation, with support from the Lagos Response Unit (LRU) and security assistance provided by officers from the Ketu Police Station,” he said.
Taofiq noted that Sola Giwa, special adviser to the governor on transportation, urged truck drivers to follow the speed limits displayed on road signs installed by the government.
