NNPC reveals how much they bought litre of petrol from Dangote Refinery

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced its fuel purchase from Dangote Refinery at a rate of N898 per litre.

Spokesperson for the NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, on Sunday told Daily Trust the company bought the fuel as N898 per litre contrary to reports claiming N760.
“We successfully loaded PMS at the Dangote Refinery today. The claim that we purchased it at N760 per litre is incorrect. For this initial loading, the price from the refinery was N898 per litre,” he said.
Soneye disclosed that over 70 trucks had been loaded as at the time of talking to the newspaper.
SaharaReporters earlier on Sunday reported that Dangote Refinery had commenced petrol distribution and loading of the first set of trucks from its premises in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State.
Dangote Group, owned by Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, announced this in a post made on its X (formerly Twitter) account, where it shared photos and videos of loaded trucks leaving the facilities.
“HAPPENING NOW: First set of trucks set for loading of PMS at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery,” it said in the post.
SaharaReporters reported on Saturday that the NNPC Limited had deployed over 100 trucks to Dangote Refinery to lift fuel, with hundreds more to go.
The state-owned company announced this in a short statement released alongside several pictures showing many trucks stationed within the premises of the indigenous refinery in Lagos State.
NNPC wrote: “In preparation for the Dangote Refinery’s scheduled petrol loading on Sunday, September 15, 2024, NNPC Ltd. has been mobilizing trucks to the refinery’s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki.
“As of Saturday afternoon, NNPC Ltd. had deployed over 100 trucks, with hundreds more en route.”
The Nigerian government had earlier announced that the supply of petrol from Dangote Refinery, Lagos, would begin on September 15, following an agreement reached on pricing and supply terms.
The development was disclosed on Friday by Zacch Adedeji, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service and member of the Presidential Committee on the Sale of Crude Oil and Refined Products.
According to Adedeji, the NNPC Limited would serve as the sole off-taker of petrol from the Dangote Refinery, with other marketers sourcing the product from the national oil company.
It was said the NNPCL would also commence the supply of 385,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the refinery from October 1, 2024, with payments made in Naira.
This development marks a significant milestone in the operation of the refinery, which is expected to significantly boost Nigeria’s fuel production capacity.
