Nnamdi Kanu Apologizes To Court
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has issued an apology to Justice Binta Nyako and other judges he may have verbally attacked during his prolonged trial at the Federal High Court.
He also extended apologies to the management of the court, the Federal Government’s lawyer, Awomolo (SAN), and his entire legal team, particularly Aloy Ejimakor, whom he verbally criticized in the past.
Represented by his new lawyer, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Kanu Agabi (SAN), Kanu tendered his sincere apologies during Friday’s court session.
Agabi, upon resumption of the trial on March 21, sought permission to deliver the message on behalf of his client and noted that he had already discussed Kanu’s position with the prosecution and the presiding judge, Justice Omotosho.
The trial, which resumed on March 21 for a fresh start, had been transferred from Justice Binta Nyako to Justice Omotosho.
Kanu also made changes to his legal representation, bringing in Kanu Agabi to lead the team previously headed by Aloy Ejimakor.
In court, Kanu pleaded not guilty to the seven-count charge against him.
Justice Omotosho subsequently adjourned the trial to March 29, 2025, for further hearing.
