Nigerians Will Mobilise To Police Headquarters, Others In Abuja On August 29 To Support NLC President, Ajaero, Demand Freedom For Detained #EndBadGovernance Protesters –Sowore
The invitation, detailed in an official letter, required Ajaero to appear for an interview on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the IRT Complex in Guzape District, Abuja.
Omoyele Sowore, convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement, has revealed that a large group of Nigerians will join Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero on August 29 at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja, in response to his invitation by the police.
Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), made this announcement on his X account on Wednesday.
Additionally, Sowore announced that many Nigerians will stage a march to the FCT Police Command and the Abattoir Police Detention Centre in Abuja’s Apo area, demanding the immediate release of all #EndBadGovernance protesters currently in detention.
He wrote, “On August 29th 2024, ALL roads lead to the Nigerian Police Force @Policeng Headquarters in Abuja, the FCT Police Command @FCT_PoliceNG, and the Abattoir Police Detention Center at Apo Area of Abuja first to accompany the @NLCHeadquarters President @JoeAjaero94024 and also to demand the immediate release of all #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters nationwide!

SaharaReporters on Monday reported that Ajaero had been invited by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), over allegations of “criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.”
The invitation, detailed in an official letter, required Ajaero to appear for an interview on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the IRT Complex in Guzape District, Abuja.
According to the letter, the investigation has identified Ajaero as a person of interest in the case.
However, Ajaero on Tuesday explained that he would not be able to honour the police invitation that day.
In a letter dated August 20, 2024, from Falana & Falana’s Chambers, lawyers for the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its President, Joe Ajaero, informed the Inspector General of Police that Ajaero would be unable to attend the scheduled interview on Tuesday due to prior commitments.
The letter, signed by Samuel Ogala Esq., proposed an alternative date of Wednesday, August 29, 2024, for the interview.
Additionally, the NLC demanded that the police disclose the specific allegations and charges against Comrade Ajaero, citing Section 36 of the Nigerian Constitution, which ensures the right to a fair hearing and entitles him to know the details of the accusations.
