NIGERIAN YOUTH REJECTS THE NEW PUMP PRICE OF PREMIUM MOTOR SPIRIT(PMS)
Nigerian youth under the auspices of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria rejects in totality the new pump price of Premium Motor Spirit(PMS) imposed by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited(NNPCL) on innocent and helpless citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It is no longer news that majority of Nigerian youth are passing through intolerable hardship as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy. Many of us who survive on transportation businesses had to park our vehicles because of low patronage. Thousands of Nigerian youth have lost their jobs and source of livelihood.
In addition, the difficulties orchestrated by the obnoxious increment has made so many young people to drop out of school. We can’t feed ourselves any longer. Prices of foodstuffs, other goods and essential services have witnessed astronomical increase.
Sadly, less than two months after that increment, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Limited (NNPCL) announced another increment, blaming it on market forces. We can’t continue like this. Enough is enough!
In all these, Nigerian youth were not carried along in the scheme of things. We are not in the picture of any reasonable plans for the youth constituency. As stakeholders in our own rights, nobody engaged or consulted us to know the true situation of things. It is pertinent to note that we are not second class citizens in our country. That’s why we have decided to take our destinies in our own hands.
Consequently, we are giving the NNPCL seven(7) days ultimatum to carry out the following decisions :
1)Reverse the price of PMS to be in tandem with the reality of the present time
2)Come up with a workable template to engage the young people to understand the concept of subsidy removal and it’s benefit to the economy of the country
3)Design a practicable blueprint on things to be done to Nigerian youth to cushion the effects of subsidy removal
In the event that NNPCL fails to address these salient and germane issues, then Nigerian youth would have no option than to mobilize it’s organs across all the States of the federation including FCT Abuja for a mass protest at the NNPCL Headquarters until the needful is done.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
