Nigerian Singer Primeboy Files N50Million Lawsuit Against Mohbad’s Mother For Alleged Defamation
The suit, numbered IDJADR 1304312025, was lodged at the High Court of Lagos State in the Ikeja Judicial Division on February 12, 2025.
Nigerian singer, Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy, a close associate of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, has filed a N50 million lawsuit against Abosede Adeola Oluniyi (Mrs Abosede Aloba), Mohbad’s mother.
The suit, numbered IDJADR 1304312025, was lodged at the High Court of Lagos State in the Ikeja Judicial Division on February 12, 2025.
Owodunni alleges that Abosede made “libelous, injurious, falsehood and malicious statements” against him during a video interview recorded on March 28, 2024 and widely circulated across multiple news and online platforms.
The court document states that the statements were “designed to defame the Claimant in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society.”
The writ, signed by Mrs Bakarey K. B., Chief Administrative and Human Resource Officer, directs the Defendant to respond within 42 days of service.
“You are hereby commanded that within 42 (forty-two) days after the service of this Writ on you, inclusive of the day of such service, you do cause an appearance to be entered for you in an action at the suit of the Claimant.
“Take notice that in default of your so doing the Claimant may proceed therein, and judgment may be given in your absence,” the writ states.
It further specifies that the writ must be served within six months from the date of issuance or, if renewed, within three months from the last renewal date.
The Defendant may enter an appearance personally or through a legal practitioner by submitting the necessary forms at the High Court Registry, either in person, by registered post, or through electronic means.
Owodunni seeks N50 million in exemplary damages for the alleged defamation, which he claims has caused significant harm to his reputation.
The lawsuit marks another chapter in the ongoing controversies surrounding Mohbad’s death, with multiple legal and public disputes emerging in the aftermath.
In the aftermath of Mohbad’s death, Mrs. Aloba granted a video interview on March 28, 2024. In this interview, she allegedly made statements suggesting that Primeboy and a close associate of Mohbad, had altercations with her son prior to his death. These remarks were widely disseminated across various news and online platforms.
