Nigerian Police Summon Ex-Dunamis Pastor Who Accused Church Founder Pastor Enenche Of Breach Of Agreement, Facilitating Imprisonment
This development comes after Pastor Daniel publicly accused Pastor Paul Enenche, the founder and Senior Pastor of the church, of reneging on a gentleman’s agreement between them.
The Nigeria Police Force has invited Pastor Abraham Daniel, a former minister at Dunamis International Gospel Centre, for questioning in connection with an investigation into several serious charges, including criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.
This development comes after Pastor Daniel publicly accused Pastor Paul Enenche, the founder and Senior Pastor of the church, of reneging on a gentleman’s agreement between them.
The invitation was signed by one DCP Alhassan Kawu Yahaya on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja.
The letter, dated January 3, 2025 reads, “In furtherance of investigations into the case of Cyber-Bullying, Criminal Defamation, Injurious Falsehood, Making False Publication/Giving False Information and Inciting Public Nuisance in which the need for some clarifications from you has become imperative.
“You are requested to report for an interview with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) through the undersigned, at SPO’s Room 212, 2nd Floor, Force Intelligence Department. (FID) Complex, Shehu Shagari Way, opposite Force Headquarters Area 11, Garki, Abuja on Tuesday, 7th January, 2025 at 1pm. On arrival, you may wish to call GSM number 09********
“This request is made pursuant to the investigative powers conferred on the Police by the combined effect of Sections 214 and the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and Section 4 of the Police Act and Regulations, 2020.
“Be informed that you are at liberty to come along with your attorney, please.”
In a recent interview with SaharaReporters, Pastor Abraham Daniel alleged that Pastor Paul Enenche and the church management failed to uphold a “gentleman’s agreement” between them.
Specifically, Daniel claimed that the church refused to replace his 2004 Corolla vehicle, which was reportedly damaged in 2020. According to Daniel, the damage occurred when he was allegedly trailed by Pastor Enenche, who accused him of blackmailing him and the church.
Daniel previously accused Enenche of falsely accusing him and orchestrating his imprisonment on fabricated charges.
According to Daniel, Enenche and other pastors were upset with him for leaving the church and for publicly criticising Enenche on Facebook, where he exposed some of the church’s activities.
While sharing his experience with SaharaReporters, Daniel revealed that his time in prison had severe consequences, including the loss of his business and his family – his wife left with their five children, allegedly influenced by the church.
According to Daniel, after resigning from his position as a pastor, he was accused of embezzling the church’s funds through a post sponsored by the church on Nairaland, a micro-blogging site and other news platform.
He was thereafter accused of posting about Eneche on Facebook, which led to his detention for three weeks at the Suleja Prison, Abuja.
Following the SaharaReporters’ story, Pastor Daniel claimed that Pastor Enenche agreed to an out-of-court settlement with him at the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
As part of this agreement, Enenche reportedly promised to replace Daniel’s car, which was damaged during the period when he was allegedly being trailed by Enenche.
“It can be called a gentleman’s agreement. It was when we met at the FCID in order to withdraw the case, I brought my own (my conditions), they brought their own (their conditions too). It was a gentleman’s agreement, no lawyer, and nothing was drafted like a legal term,” he said.
“Their lawyer and the police that came to arrest me even met me at scene of the accident.”
While commenting on the alleged blackmail, Daniel added, “There was a write-up I wrote that time (in 2020), because they were intervening in my marriage. My ex was always going to send them with my children and all of that. I told them to hands off of my family. So, I wrote that if anything happens to me or my children, they would be responsible.”
He also revealed how his family had been struggling to make ends meet since his car was damaged. He noted that the car was the sole item he relied on to feed his five children.
According to him, the task has been made difficult due to the refusal of Enenche and the church to honour the agreement.
