Nigerian Police Arrest Two Suspects In Anambra, Recover Over 1000 Live Cartridges, Stolen Vehicle
The operatives also recovered two 50kg bags containing four cartons of 170 pieces of live cartridges.
The Anambra State Police Command has said that its operatives have arrested two suspected secessionists in the state and recovered 1,170 live cartridges and a stolen vehicle.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who made this known in a statement issued on Friday in Awka, the state capital, said that the operatives who leveraged on the “practical Intelligence and tactical operations led by the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam” acted on the information provided and intercepted a shuttle bus.
The operatives also recovered two 50kg bags containing four cartons of 170 pieces of live cartridges.
Ikenga said that the operatives laid an ambush on the receipt of information along Port Harcourt Road in Fegge, Onitsha, where the convener on sighting the police took to his heels before the driver was arrested.
The police spokesperson said the driver was currently undergoing interrogation to guide the investigation.
Ikenga also said that on Thursday, police operatives along Creek Road, Fegge, arrested one Kingsley Orji of Okwudo village, Mgbidi in Imo State, and recovered a stolen Lexus RX350 with Reg Nos: YAB 912 HR.
“The vehicle was reported to have been snatched at gunpoint by six armed men along Love Line assembly, Imo State.
“The suspect confessed to the crime and has made useful information that is assisting in apprehending other gang members.
“To this end, the CP charged the operatives to sustain the onslaught operation aimed to deny criminal elements the space they enjoy in the State and assured Ndi Anambra the Command commitment and utmost confidentiality on every information provided and shall be acted upon,” the PPRO added.
