Nigerian Man With Violent Criminal Record Arrested For Killing 60-Year-Old Homeless Man In Toronto
Toronto police arrested Chukwuka late Friday afternoon, just hours after Ferreira was found dead near the University of Toronto campus.
A31-year-old Nigerian, Adimabua Chukwuka, has been accused of first-degree murder in the death of 60-year-old Mario Ferreira in Toronto, Canada.

Investigators say surveillance footage allegedly shows Chukwuka repeatedly attacking Ferreira with debris, possibly from a dumpster or construction site, while he lay on a bench at around 5:20 a.m. on Thursday.
Past Toronto police reports reveal that Chukwuka was previously charged with multiple offences in separate incidents in 2014 and 2022.
In August 2014, he was accused of multiple stabbings and charged with 10 counts, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and failing to comply with probation.
In April 2022, he allegedly pulled a knife on a man and stole his mobile phone before stabbing another man twice in the chest during a dispute.
Police subsequently charged him with 10 offences, including possessing a dangerous weapon, assault with a weapon, and robbery with a weapon.
The outcome of these past criminal cases remains unknown.
There have been a few instances in Canada involving individuals of Nigerian descent associated with violent or threatening activities.
In August 2024, Amaka Sonnberger, a 46-year-old Canadian-Nigerian woman, posted online content threatening to poison individuals of Yoruba and Benin descent in Canada.​
Toronto Police arrested Sonnberger on September 1, 2024, charging her with uttering threats. The investigation was treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.
In October 2015, Toronto Police arrested three individuals, including Nigerian nationals, for their involvement in a romance scam that defrauded a 63-year-old Toronto widow of $609,000.
The suspects were linked to a larger $6.5-billion fraud ring operated by a Nigerian gang.​
The individuals were charged with fraud over $5,000 and laundering the proceeds of crime.
