The arrests were made near the Nigeria-Niger border by Nigerian security forces, following the brutal murder of District Head Isa Muhammad Bawa by bandits.

A viral video shows the captured terrorists being held in a cell, mocked, and interrogated by security operatives.

“I bring you greetings with peace. Here with us are bandits, Bello Turji’s fighters whom we captured along the border between Nigeria and Niger,” one of security operatives is heard saying.

On Sunday, Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, posted the video on his X handle showing the arrest of 18 terrorists linked to Bello Turji.

Makama noted that the arrests were made during a security operation targeting cross-border banditry and criminal activities in the region.

“The suspects are believed to be part of a network of armed groups operating under the command of Bello Turji, who has been linked to numerous attacks, kidnappings, and violent crimes across northwestern Nigeria.

“The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace to the area,” Makama said.
