N438 Million Scandal Exposed: Group Accuses Passport Cabals Of Vendetta Against Interior Minister
The Renewed Hope Collective (RHC) has expressed disapproval of the corruption allegations directed at Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. The accusations arose from a leaked document revealing that Tunji-Ojo’s company
New Planet Project Limited, secured a N438 million consultancy service contract from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
However, during a Monday interview on Channels Television, Tunji-Ojo explained that he resigned from the company in February 2019 upon his election as a lawmaker in the House of Representatives.
In an open letter to President Bola Tinubu, the RHC’s Chairman, Umar Sanda, claimed that the “passport cabals” are targeting the minister and urged President Tinubu to safeguard him due to the reforms he is implementing.
The group asserted that Tunji-Ojo, through his efforts to streamline passport issuance, has incurred the wrath of the sectorial cabals benefiting from the existing system.
The open letter emphasized the challenges faced by change-makers like Tunji-Ojo, drawing parallels with historical figures such as Chief Bola Ige and Prof. Dora Akunyili, who encountered resistance from powerful cabals in their respective sectors.
The RHC clarified that Tunji-Ojo founded New Planet Project Limited a decade ago but resigned from directorship in 2019, distancing himself from the company’s management since then.
The group attributed the alleged involvement of the company in contracts awarded by the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, to a campaign orchestrated by the “Passport Cabal.”
The RHC urged President Tinubu to remain resolute in implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda while staying vigilant against internal opposition.
The group emphasized the need for protection against a perceived formidable cabal threatening Tunji-Ojo and urged the President to shield him from potential harm.
