The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has flagged off the disbursement of N335 million in scholarship and bursary funds to 11,200 students of Ondo State origin studying across various tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The ceremony, held at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, marked a significant stride in the Governor’s dedication to improving education and alleviating the financial burdens faced by students.

Present at the event, The SSA on Students Affairs, Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu, expressed deep appreciation for the Governor’s unwavering support towards student welfare. In his remarks, Hon. Kevin highlighted the overwhelming joy and relief this initiative has brought to students, noting that the increased bursary from N10,000 to N20,000, the N75,000 for students with disabilities, and the N100,000 for scholarship beneficiaries demonstrate the government’s genuine concern for education as a catalyst for development.

Hon. Kevin further emphasized that the financial assistance provided by the government would enable students to focus more on their studies and less on financial worries. He encouraged students to view these awards as a sign of the government’s confidence in their potential, urging them to utilize the funds wisely in pursuit of academic excellence.

The students conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the Governor, affirming that this initiative would significantly ease the financial burdens on them and their families. The SSA reiterated the students’ commitment to making the most of this opportunity, assuring that the beneficiaries would strive to excel in their respective academic endeavors, making Ondo State proud.
