My life is full of mysterious experiences, miracles – says Pastor Akinosun at 80th birthday ceremony
As the immediate past president of Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria and overseas, Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun, reaches the threshold of the octogenarian life, he affirms that his life is indeed full of mysterious happenings, a testimony of God’s miraculous interventions.
“My life so far till now, is full of all kinds of miracles, day to day miracles and mysterious happenings.” He remarked.
Recalling a notable event, Pastor Abraham Akinosun shared a powerful testimony of God’s comfort and intervention during his trying times.
“Sometime ago when I was the church’s General Superintendent, there was this mysterious attack, it was so serious that I thought I was going to die at that time.
As I was praying (with tears) at Ikeji Arakeji, the Lord revealed some of our founding fathers – the first president of the church, Pastor (Oba) I.B. Akinyele, having with him a set of drums, the first General Evangelist, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, and Baba David Olulana Babajide, who was holding a mighty trumpet in his hand; they were all rejoicing. Then I knew they were truly alive and not dead. The vision became a source of encouragement for me to forge ahead and God helped me to overcome. There were other attacks but God spared my life.” He recalled.
He attributed his appointment as president to a miraculous event saying “I consider it a miracle becoming the president of this church though God had told me since 1972 that I would become a leader of His people.”
In an interview with him, Pastor Akinosun also recounted God’s faithfulness and protection highlighting how God sustained him especially through his last six months in office.
“My last year in office, particularly the six months leading up to my retirement, was sustained solely by God’s grace. I faced numerous challenges, likely orchestrated by evil forces. Notably, a prophet had a vision that was so terrifying that he documented it in a written note and shared it with my typist, whom he visited frequently.
According to the prophet, the vision depicted a tall and imposing figure, in a manner similar to law enforcement, entering the office, arresting someone (not me) blindfolding him, and binding his hands to the back..” He narrated.
Despite the prophetic vision that foretold a dire fate, he rejected it, attributing his victory to God’s sustaining power.
“I rejected the vision telling him that the prophecy was not for me. Nevertheless, I subsequently experienced numerous health challenges, including difficulties articulating my thoughts and blurred vision, which made it a terrible ordeal. However, I remain grateful to God, who has been the Sustainer of my life.” He stated.
In light of Pastor Akinosun’s exemplary life, CAC General Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel Mapur, in his tributes highlighted the former president’s notable achievements during his tenure as president.
“Under his stewardship, the church witnessed remarkable growth, spiritual transformation, and an enduring legacy of holiness and prayer. His commitment to upholding the doctrines of Christ Apostolic Church has left an indelible mark, reminding us of the importance of living a life wholly devoted to God.” He noted.
He also praised Pastor Akinosun’s life as a testament to God’s grace and mercy which cut across other aspects of his life.
“Beyond his ministerial duties, Pastor Akinosun’s life is a testament to the grace and mercy of God, which include his marital life and his relationship with people. His motto and principle of life is based on the dictate of our Lord, Jesus Christ, which has to do with living in peace with all men, of which no man shall see the lord (Hebrews 12:14). His peaceful mien, unwavering trust in the Almighty, his compassion for souls and his passion for revival, remain an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of encountering him.” He stated.
The Finance Director, Pastor Johnson Omitinde, also commended Pastor Akinosun’s leadership, saying,
“Baba fought fiercely, to wade off the enemies of the Church. He stood, determined to make sure that the Church remained one and indivisible. He was, with an accommodating mien, native intelligence and philosophical calmness, able to disarm those that were opposed to his appointment and that of other principal officers and prevented them from using the situation as an excuse to destabilize the Church.”
He noted that the former president was gentle, kind, meek, and sympathetic to the cause of God and the Church, and that he remains a true and sympathetic father to all members.
“It should be placed on record that throughout his tenure as the President of Christ Apostolic Church, Baba was gentle, kind, meek, and sympathetic to the cause of God and the Church. He was and still is a true and sympathetic father as well as a caring shepherd to all members of the Church.” He noted.
Pastor Akinosun’s daughter, Mrs. Kehinde Olaseni, reflected deeply on her father’s life, admiring his exceptional calmness and wisdom in handling issues.
“One thing that amazes me about Baba is that I have never seen him get angry or agitated even in situations where you expect him to get angry or flare up, he just smiles. He is a man of few words filled with wisdom.” She observed.
She went on to acknowledge his qualities of love, patience, and resilience, expressing heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the children.
Underscoring the significance of the milestone celebration, CAC General Superintendent, Pastor Emmanuel Odejobi, also spoke extensively on the topic “Numbering our days with wisdom” as drawn from Psalm 90:12 during the thanksgiving service held in honor of the former president on Saturday April 19, 2025.
“Celebrations like this should not be considered just for eating drinking drumming singing and declaration of surplusity, rather it should be a time when both the celebrant and the people celebrating with him, set their hearts unto the path of wisdom.” The General Superintendent emphasized.
“In Matthew 14 from verse 6, Herod was celebrating his birthday and those celebrating with him were not setting their mind unto wisdom, merely dancing, eating and marrying, not sensitized of the reason for numbering one’s days, hence the outcome of the birthday ceremony – the head of a man of God went for it. What then should be our focus in this celebration? It is to set our hearts to wisdom.” He noted.
Pastor Abraham Akinosun served as the 7th President of Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria and Overseas from 2012 until his retirement in 2020, having been ordained in 1981 and serving in various capacities prior to his appointment.
The former president was honored with a cash gift presented by the church authority at the birthday thanksgiving service held at CAC All Saints Chapel, Ibadan.
