More schools shut down in Nigeria over protests

Several state governments in Nigeria have delayed the resumption of schools for the 2024/2025 academic year. Originally set to reopen on September 9, schools in some states will remain closed due to various reasons.
In Kano State, the Ministry of Education has confirmed the postponement, with the commissioner set to announce a new resumption date. The delay is intended to improve the learning environment.
Edo State also postponed its school reopening, citing the rising fuel prices and the challenges they pose for parents and guardians.
Similarly, Abia State delayed the resumption, attributing the decision to a coinciding Muslim holiday.
