In a statement in Awka, the Deputy National Director Gidado Siddiki stressed the need to avoid actions that could incite unrest.

He highlighted that neighbouring countries are ill-equipped to handle potential refugee crises resulting from conflict, underscoring the importance of peace and stability in Nigeria.

He said regarding the planned nationwide protest, “I align with the decision of my national leaders from MACBAN, who have distanced themselves and their members from participating.

“I urge Nigerians to exercise caution regarding the protest. It is crucial to avoid actions that could lead to unrest, as none of our neighbouring countries are equipped to handle Nigerian refugees in the event of conflict.

“Peace and progress cannot be achieved through violence. We should consider President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pledge to address some of the demands and recognize that the difficulties we face are not solely the responsibility of the president.

“We, as Nigerians, also contribute to our own challenges. Let us act with fairness and responsibility in all our endeavours.”
