MC Oluomo Wins second term as Chairman Lagos NURTW
MC Oluomo, who is the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos, has been re-elected for a second term in office. Alongside him, Alhaji Sulyman Ojora was elected as the Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle (Sego) as the Treasurer, and 28 other executive members were elected unopposed. This took place at the 10th Quadrennial State Delegates Conference held at the state union secretariat in Agege. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Adejare Kembi, Principal of Excel Practitioners, and witnessed by many notable individuals, including the Acting National President of the union, Alhaji Aliyu Issa Ore.
During the conference, Akinsanya expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the national body of the union led by Alhaji Ore, and other stakeholders who supported him during a crisis in the past. He particularly appreciated the loyalty and perseverance of the union members in the state and promised to provide more assistance to them. Akinsanya also pledged to continue implementing his reform policies, which have positively impacted the union activities within the state.
In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by Lateef Tiamiyu, a Director in the State Ministry of Transportation, commended the union members for re-electing Akinsanya for a second term. The Governor praised Akinsanya’s leadership qualities and his efforts in transforming the union activities in the state. He urged the members to continue aligning with government policies.
Eshomounu Itemoagbo, the Controller at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Lagos Office, described Akinsanya as a visionary leader. He applauded Akinsanya for employing more than 123 graduates in various units of the union and assured continued collaboration between the ministry and the union to create more employment opportunities. Itemoagbo encouraged the union members to maintain unity and strive for further progress.
In his address, Alhaji Ore, the Acting National President of the union, commended Akinsanya’s re-election and the election of other executive members. He emphasized the importance of exemplary leadership, capacity, and sacrifice. Ore called for an inclusive and fair administration that promotes unity and harmony within the union.
