Man Strips Naked After FRSC Personnel Seized Motorcycle, Says He Can’t Survive Hardship

A video has shown the moment when a motorcyclist stripped himself after his bike was seized by the personnel of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara State.
In the video which SaharaReporters obtained on Wednesday morning, the bike owner was heard accusing FRSC officials of trying to extorting him but they seized his motorcycle after he refused.
He complained bitterly that if he allowed the FRSC personnel to take his bike away, he would be left with nothing to provide foods for his family members.
“There is nothing that can’t happen. You don’t know what I am going through but you seized my Okada (motorcycle). I have been working since morning but I could not even eat,” the bike owner said.
His lamentation later gained the attention of passersby who also stood against the alleged extortion of the FRSC officials.
The passersby faulted the law enforcement agents of being insensitive towards the plight of many Nigerians, including the bike man.
One of them said: “We will get his bike back to him. You will give it back to him. This is how you have been cheating poor Nigerians. What do you want to collect from him to make you seize his motorcycle? How much did you want to collect from him to warrant seizing his motorcycle? If you collected the bike from him, how did you want him to be taking care of his family?
“You are a thief. Despite all the current economic hardships Nigerians are currently facing, Tinubu is dealing with us and you too(FRSC) are also extorting us. It is unfair,” the passerby added.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has not issued an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
Incidents like this were why human rights and constitutional lawyer, Sir Ifeanyi C. Ejiofor Esq., urged the National Assembly to reject the proposed bill that would arm Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) officers.
He expressed the belief that turning a civilian agency responsible for traffic management into an armed force would put public safety at risk and increase violence on Nigerian roads.
Ejiofor’s concerns are rooted in the potential for armed officials to misuse their power, leading to tragic consequences. He maintained that the FRSC’s primary duties, as outlined in its establishing law, are to guide, educate, and enforce traffic regulations in a calm and orderly manner – not to instil fear or intimidation.
