LGA chairman appoints over 100 special assistants — second time in six months
Chijioke Ihunwo, chairman of Obio-Akpor LGA of Rivers state, has appointed 130 special assistants.
Ihunwo, who announced the appointments in a post on X on Wednesday, said the new hires “must serve diligently”.
Some of the appointees are Helen Nyekwere, Josephine Wogu, Daisy Worgu, Wagwu Hilda, Ogbonna Stella, Goodness Ogbonna, and Grace Amadi.
Ihunwo added that the appointments take immediate effect.
In July 2024, when he was caretaker committee chairman of the LGA, Ihunwo appointed 100 special assistants.
The politician is an ally of Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state.
In October of the same year, he scrubbed Nyesom Wike’s name off the administrative block of the council secretariat.
Wike, who is the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers, hails from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor LGA of the state.
