LG chairman gifts 10,850 pupils school uniforms

The Bagwai Local Government Area of Kano State has launched the distribution of free school uniforms to 10,850 pupils as part of its efforts to support education and ease the financial burden on parents.

In addition to the uniform distribution, the council also offered admission letters to 100 students to attend the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi.

The initiative was confirmed in a statement by the council’s Information Officer, Shehu Shanono.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Bagwai Local Government, Alhaji Bello Gadanya, emphasised that the programme aligned with the Kano State government’s commitment to enhancing education access, especially for underprivileged students.

“This initiative is aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and encouraging more students to stay in school,” Gadanya stated.

He also revealed plans to construct new classroom blocks in schools across the region to further improve the learning environment.

The Education Secretary of Bagwai Local Government, Malam Mustapha Majingini, assured that the distribution of uniforms would be carried out fairly, in line with directives from the Kano State Government.

Other key stakeholders, including the acting Director of Personnel Management, Alhaji Sani Shanono, representatives of the Parent-Teacher Association, and the local NNPP party chairman, praised the initiative and pledged their support for its success.
