Lagos Elegushi Royal Family Reacts To Indictment In Murder Of Singer, MohBad, Disowns Music Promoter
In a statement released Thursday by the Palace, the Royal Family denounced any involvement with the music promoter.
The Lagos State Elegushi Royal Family of Eti-Osa has stated that music promoter, Samson Balogun, Sam Larry, is not a member of the royal family as reported in some quarters and was not sent to harass now late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka MohBad.
In a statement released Thursday by the Palace, the Royal Family denounced any involvement with the music promoter.
SaharaReporters earlier reported how Mohbad wrote a petition to the Nigerian Police Force reporting multiple threats to his life from controversial socialite, Sam Larry, amongst others, according to the document which surfaced online on Thursday.
Mohbad, on June 27, 2023, had filed a petition captioned “Petition of threat to life, malicious damage of properties valued the sum of five-million-naira, assault occasioning harm, oppression and conduct likely to cause breach of peace” against Sam Larry and Oba Elegushi of Eti-Osa, Lagos State.
In a video circulating on the internet, Mohbad and Zlatan could be seen on set for a music video when Larry allegedly stormed the scene with some boys targeting the late singer.
The video has stirred reactions on social media with Nigerians calling on the Nigeria Police Force to arrest Sam Larry and Mohbad’s former label boss, Naira Marley, to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.
Meanwhile, in the statement by the royal family, the palace said, “The Elegushi Royal Family of Eti-Osa wishes to put on record the misinformation on the media space involving Samson Erinfolami Balogun (AKA Sam Larry).
“Samson Balogun is not a member of the royal family and does not work for the royal family or king in any capacity. Like other celebrities, politicians, religious and community leaders, he visits the palace to pay homage to the king and seek royal blessings just like other members of the public.
“While expressing our condolence to the family and friends of late Ilerioluwa Aloba (known as MohBad) we would like to add our voices to the calls for a thorough investigation into circumstances surrounding his death to unravel any foul play.
“We ask our friends in the media to be mindful of the sensitivity of the issue and desist from spreading falsehood that may jeopardise the investigation.”
