Lagos-Based Doctor Who Bagged Life Jail For Rape Allegedly Relocates To UK After Appeal Court Ruling
Olaleye was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2023 by a Sexual Offences Court in Lagos on two counts of defilement and sexual violence against a minor.
The Executive Director of the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence, Gbenga Soloki, has raised the alarm over the alleged abscondment of embattled Lagos-based medical doctor, Femi Olaleye, to the United Kingdom.
Olaleye was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2023 by a Sexual Offences Court in Lagos on two counts of defilement and sexual violence against a minor.
However, in November 2024, the Court of Appeal overturned the conviction, acquitting him of all charges.
In a statement released on Friday, Soloki claimed that Olaleye fled Nigeria immediately after the Lagos State Government filed an appeal against his acquittal by the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.
According to Soloko, the medical doctor has launched a media campaign against his estranged wife, Mrs. Aderemi Olaleye, the judiciary, and the police, accusing them of bias in the matter.
Dissatisfied with the ruling, the Lagos State Government proceeded to the Supreme Court to seek a reversal of the acquittal. Soloki alleged that upon learning of the appeal, Olaleye fled to the United Kingdom, where he has since been hiding.
Adding another dimension to the case, Soloki revealed that Olaleye’s lawyer, Mr. Kemi Pinheiro, has formally withdrawn from representing him.
He said that Pinheiro reportedly refused to accept legal documents related to the Supreme Court appeal, stating that his engagement with the case ended at the Appeal Court.
“Mr. Pinheiro wrote to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution, notifying them that he is no longer Dr. Olaleye’s legal representative and will not be defending him at the Supreme Court,” Soloki said.
According to Soloki, Dr. Olaleye was officially served with the Supreme Court appeal documents via his known WhatsApp number and email.
“However, he allegedly responded with a message stating that the number no longer belongs to him, as he has relocated to the UK.
“To further evade justice, Dr. Olaleye has reportedly hired a blogger to lead a media smear campaign against his wife, falsely claiming that she has taken over his house and evaded arrest,” he said.
Soloki dismissed these allegations, clarifying that the ownership of the house is already a subject of legal proceedings initiated by Olaleye himself.
“The house in question is the family home where his wife and their two children reside. Since the incident, he has shown no concern for his family, except in claiming ownership of the property,” he said.
Soloki further alleged that Olaleye’s claims of his wife evading arrest are an attempt to manipulate public opinion, noting that the police have refused to act on his complaint after confirming that the matter is already in court.
Soloki described Olaleye as a “serial pedophile,” alleging that he routinely drugged and raped his clients. He also claimed that video evidence exists to support these allegations.
“Before relocating to Nigeria, Olaleye was reportedly involved in multiple cases of sexual abuse and rape in the United Kingdom while working in a well-known hospital,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Aderemi Fagbemi Olaleye has indicated her intention to seek redress in court, maintaining that the truth will eventually prevail.
“She has chosen not to comment extensively on a matter already before the court but she is determined to clear her name through legal means,” Soloki added.
