Kwara Court Remands Seven Over Mojisola Awesu’s Murder Linked To Popular Prophet Ogunse’s Son
Justice Ibrahim Yusuf issued the remand order on Monday following the absence of legal counsel for the 5th, 6th, and 7th defendants, expressing dissatisfaction with the delays in the trial process.
AKwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has ordered the remand of seven suspects linked to the gruesome murder of Mojisola Awesu, a student of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa.
Justice Ibrahim Yusuf issued the remand order on Monday following the absence of legal counsel for the 5th, 6th, and 7th defendants, expressing dissatisfaction with the delays in the trial process.
The case has been adjourned to March 4.
The two prime suspects, Adebayo Joshua Happiness and Timileyin Kolawole, were previously remanded during an earlier hearing on February 3.
However, with the latest development, all seven defendants are to remain in custody.
Prosecutors accuse Adebayo Joshua Happiness and Timileyin Kolawole of conspiring to murder Mojisola Awesu on August 9, 2024.
Meanwhile, Happiness Adebayo, alongside his parents, Adebayo Adeniyi and Bukola Adeniyi, faces charges of conspiring to destroy evidence, an offence under the Kwara State Penal Code Law of 2006.
The remaining three defendants—Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Aminat, and Peter Bulus—are accused of conspiring to dispose of the victim’s body at a dumpsite along Wara Road, Ilorin, in violation of the Kwara State Prohibition of Dealing in Human Parts Law, 2018.
The court has adjourned the case to March 4 for further proceedings.
On August 18, 2024, SaharaReporters reported that Prophet Adeniyi Adebayo, also known as Prophet Ogunse, and his son, Promise Ogunse, had been taken into custody in connection with the murder of a female graduate of the Kwara State College of Health Technology in Offa.
SaharaReporters reported that Promise Ogunse, the son of the founder of The Light of God Miracle Embassy Church Worldwide, was the prime suspect in the alleged murder.
It was gathered that Promise, the first son of Pastor Ogunse, invited the victim from Offa to a hotel in Ilorin.
According to a source who spoke to SaharaReporters, the deceased had just graduated from the Kwara State College of Health Technology.
The source said, “Yes, the lady was invited by the pastor’s son to a hotel in Ilorin. Her dead body was found at a dumpsite. I think it was the hotel staff who dumped her there after the assailants fled.
“The police were able to apprehend the suspect and his father, who happens to be a pastor. They are currently being held at the police headquarters in Ilorin.”
