Kogi Central constituents breaks silence on plans to recall Senator Natasha
Residents of Kogi Central have rejected any move to recall their senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, following her suspension from the Senate.
The lawmaker was suspended for six months after a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
However, her supporters insisted she remains their chosen representative and will continue to have their full backing.
A group called the Concerned Constituents of Kogi Central Senatorial District made their stance clear in a statement over the weekend.
They dismissed any possibility of recalling Akpoti-Uduaghan and warned against any group attempting to do so.
According to them, she has provided effective representation, and any effort to remove her would go against the collective will of the people.
In a letter signed by 70 constituents, they described her suspension as illegal and called on the Senate to lift it immediately.
They argued that the decision was unjust and denied the people of Kogi Central their constitutional right to representation.
The group also cautioned against any secret moves to recall the senator, saying they would strongly resist any such attempt.
They urged the federal government and President Bola Tinubu to intervene and ensure her safety.
According to them, Kogi Central communities have maintained peace and order, and they expect the authorities to do the same.
The group made it clear that they would not tolerate any further actions that could provoke unrest.
The constituents demanded that the Senate reverse the suspension and allow Akpoti-Uduaghan to continue serving them.
They emphasized that she was elected to complete her term, which runs until May 2027, and they would not compromise on their choice of representation.
