Kogi Activist Usman Okai Austin Remanded in Correctional Centre
LOKOJA: A Lokoja Magistrate Court sitting in Lokoja on Friday ordered the remand in prison custody of activist and critic Usman Okai Austin in Kabba Correctional Centre for two weeks. This follows his recent arrest, which his friends and family termed an abduction and which has drawn significant attention.
Usman Okai Austin, known for his outspoken criticism of the Kogi State government and Governor Ododo, faces charges that have not yet been fully disclosed in detail to the public.
This is not the first time the Kogi State government has arrested the activist. In September 2017, Mr. Austin Okai was arrested in Abuja by security forces. he was trailed to a food joint on Abacha Barrack road, where he was arrested recently.
