Just like Rivers, tension rises in Kano as APC Threatens State of Emergency The political landscape in Kano State has become increasingly tense after the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a stern warning to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-led state government over inflammatory remarks made by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam. In a controversial video that has since gone viral, Abdulsalam accused Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, wife of former Kano State Governor and current APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, of financial misconduct.

The Deputy Governor alleged that during her husband’s tenure, pension funds were misappropriated, with pensioners reportedly only receiving their dues after Professor Hafsat allegedly took her share of the funds.

The claims, which were aired during an interview on Express Radio, have drawn significant backlash from the APC. Ahmad S. Aruwa, the APC’s Kano Publicity Secretary, strongly condemned Abdulsalam’s accusations, describing them as defamatory and a direct violation of the Nigerian constitution.

Aruwa further accused the Deputy Governor of engaging in character assassination, an act he deemed contrary to the principles of constitutional integrity.

The APC also warned that such damaging statements could severely inflame tensions in Kano State, with the possibility of the federal government stepping in to impose a state of emergency, similar to the recent measures taken in Rivers State under the Bola Tinubu administration.
