Just In : Youths attack Monarch in Ondo over premature deaths of indigenes
The peace of ancient town of Ikun-Akoko in Akoko southwest local government of Ondo state was disrupted when youths of the town protested against what they described as nonchalant attitude of the monarch of the town to the incessant premature deaths of promising sons and daughters of Ikun Akoko in positions of authority.
The youths carried leaves, palm leaves, placards with various inscriptions to express their displeasure about tragedy that has befallen their towns.
They claimed that onikun of Ikun, oba olokunbola Adedoyin is now parading himself as a born again Christians who refused to do rituals and culture than can ward off the calamities.
They stormed the palace and threw leave and palm leaves, after which the only petrol station in the town owned by the oba was touched during the protest.
Contacted, the monarch oba olokunbola Adedoyin who ascended the throne 19 years ago said he had been trying his best to attract development to the town since he became the onikun of Ikun.
The traditional ruler who narrated his ordeal in the hands of the irate youths said the youths threatened to kill him and his son before they attacked his petrol station where an attendant was matcheted and 3 generators valued 1 .5 million naira were vandalized.
He described himself as a prayer warrior with others that have been praying for Ikun Akoko.
When the divisional police officer for oba Akoko was contacted on phone, he confirmed that some people were arrested at ikun and will be arraigned to court.
