In the past three days, Kano State has mourned the loss of two former commissioners who served during Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration.

On Friday, Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki, the former commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, passed away at the age of 79 after a short illness. He is survived by his wives and 15 children.

Similarly, Barrister Zubaida Damakka, who served as the commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, also passed away after a brief illness in Abuja. She leaves behind three children and a husband.

The funeral prayers for both individuals were conducted in Kano on Sunday, following Islamic traditions.

Dawaki was a highly regarded and influential figure, and his sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of many, as expressed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shu’aibu.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf recognized the significant loss represented by Dawaki’s passing and offered prayers for strength and resilience to the grieving family, wishing them comfort during this difficult period of mourning
