Just In : Two Policemen feared killed, Patrol vehicle burnt in clash with gunmen
Suspected gunmen has reportedly killed two policemen at a checkpoint between the boundary of Ndiagu Ogboji and Agba communities in Ebonyi state
Reports gathered revealed the suspected gunmen as members of a separatist group in the southeast.
The gunmen were said to have killed two policemen while others sustained injury, they also said to have burnt one Hilux van of the police during the incident.
Though details of the incident were sketchy at of the time of this report but sources said the incident happened at the border between Ezza North and Ishielu local government areas.
Ogboji is a community in Ezza North LGA while Agba is in Ishielu LGA.
A source said: “Unknown Gunmen this morning clashed with men of the Nigerian Police Force at a checkpoint between the boundary of Ndiagu Ogboji and Agba communities of Ebonyi state.
“According to unconfirmed reports, about two policemen were shot dead while others sustained varying degrees of gunshot wounds. The UGM also set the police operational vehicle on fire.
Police spokesperson, Chris Anyanwu, refused to comment on the incident when contacted.
He said he has no details of the incident at the time of the report.
Anyanwu said the Police Command has sent a team to the area to ascertain what happened.
He said he was yet to get any report from the team dispatched to the area.
But a highly placed security source said two policemen were killed in the incident.
