President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a series of appointments, including naming Hakeem Muri-Okunola, currently the Lagos Head of Service, as his principal secretary. This move has been anticipated for several months, going as far back as June.

Muri-Okunola, a 51-year-old lawyer, originally joined the Lagos Civil service in 2001 as a personal assistant to then-Governor Tinubu. Over time, he has held various significant roles within the Lagos government.

One noteworthy appointment is that of Moremi Ojudu, the first daughter of Babafemi Ojudu, the former Special Political Adviser to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. Moremi, who actively supported Tinubu’s campaign, will be serving as Senior Special Assistant to the President (SSAP) on Community Engagement in the South West.

Other appointees include Tanko Yakasai (North West), Chioma Nweze (South East), Abiodun Essiet (North Central), and Abdulhamid Yahaya Abba (North East), each designated to represent their respective geographical zones.

Furthermore, the appointment list revealed the reappointment of Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, the former deputy governor of Lagos, as SSAP Sustainable Development Goals.
