Tinubu humorously referred to Wike as the “landlord of Abuja” and made a statement regarding his expectations.

Tinubu emphasized that if he were to request a piece or portion of land in Abuja, he did not want it to be given to him for free. Instead, he encouraged Wike to focus on delivering the Abuja metroline, a project aimed at benefitting the people residing in the city.

In his speech, Tinubu stated, “I want to ride on your metroline. If I ask for free land, do not give me. But deliver the metroline for the good of the greatest number of Nigerians.”

Wike, who has recently attracted attention due to his statements about demolishing unauthorized buildings, is also overseeing the Abuja rail mass transit (ARMT) project. During an inspection tour, he expressed his commitment to completing the rail project within eight months to alleviate traffic congestion in the city.

Wike took a train ride through various stations, including the metro station, Idu station, and the airport station. The rail project, developed in multiple phases and funded through loans from the China EXIM Bank, aims to enhance transportation within the FCT.

Wike assured the public that the rail transport system would be a priority and vowed to address the existing challenges to make the metro station functional. He further emphasized the importance of reducing traffic congestion through effective transportation solutions.
