JUST IN : Three Workers In Trouble Over Stolen Placenta At Ondo Hospital

Three persons working at Emure-Ile Comprehensive Health Center in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, are currently in police custody in connection with the theft of a new born baby’s placenta.

The concerned family raised alarm after the hospital workers failed to hand over the placenta following the delivery, with the situation lingering for days now.

A Reporter who is on a fact finding mission to the ancient town reports that they are appealing to relevant government agencies to ensure justice is served on the suspects.

After 9 months of waiting, the Ijanusi family finally welcomed a bouncing Baby Girl on June 15 at the comprehensive health center in Emure Ile, in Owo Local Government Area of the State.

However, the Joy that usually comes with the birth of a new baby is still missing as family members and neighbours are in sad mood over the missing placenta of the baby.

The 23 year-old, Father, Tunde Ijanusi and 19 year-old Mother of the child, Joy John who explained what transpired, said they are worried over the failure to give them the placenta of their new born by those who took the delivery.

Mrs Funmilayo Ijanusi, paternal grandmother to the baby , said the hospital officials claimed that a dog entered the facility, carting away the placenta.

She added that the hospital personnel also persuaded the family to let go of the matter.

Some neighbors, including Makun Olawoye said the importance of the placenta to the family is enormous and described it as the child’s glory which is dangerous to be in the wrong hand.

He said necessary action must be taken in ensuring justice is served on the suspects.

Efforts to speak with officials at the health facility was unsuccessful as the person in charge was not available during newsmen’s visit.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya confirmed that 3 persons a nurse, health assistant and security officer have been arrested in connection with the missing placenta

Although the Joy over the new born is tainted with sadness, the family is hopeful that God will intervene and make the life of the baby beautiful. Orange FM
