Governors of the South-Eastern states have articulated their support for the newly introduced Peace In South-East Project (PISE-P), asserting that peace is pivotal to the economic advancement and prosperity of the region. The PISE-P project advocates for a non-kinetic approach to addressing the security challenges prevalent in the region. Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, who serves as the Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, conveyed the governors’ unanimous commitment to fostering peace in the region.

Governor Uzodinma acknowledged the heightened insecurity in the South-East throughout 2021 and the subsequent period, expressing concern for the well-being of the region’s residents, both at home and abroad. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of the South-East governors and Ohanaeze in convening a security summit in Owerri. The summit resulted in a resolution to undertake every possible measure to bring about peace in the South-East and address the prevailing security challenges.

The governor emphasized, “Anything that will bring peace to South-East is welcomed,” underscoring the region’s collective dedication to achieving a more secure and harmonious environment.
