Just In : Residents Protest, Dig Deep Hole On Akure-Ilesa Expressway After Accident Claims One
Some aggrieved residents of Ikeji-Arakeji have blocked the Akure-Ilesa expressway before Joseph Ayo Babalola University, JABU over an accident caused by a hit and run driver.
The rampaging residents mainly youths made two wide holes cutting across the expressway thereby causing gridlock.
One the protesting youths, Pemisire Gatuso while speaking with newsmen explained that the community had informed the contractor who constructed the road and government officials on the need for speed breakers on the axis of the road due to the location of the community secondary school in the area.
Gatuso who claimed the incident happened on saturday said three people were killed on the same spot due to reckless driving.
He called on concerned authorities to do the needful as they would continue to occupy the spot until something is done.
We observed that there was a long queue of vehicles and some motorists had to divert to other routes for exit.
