Just In : Reps ask Police, DSS to clamp down on fuel stations selling above regulated price
lawmakers asked NNPC Limited to end the artificial scarcity within the next week.
These resolutions followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Saidu Abdulahi during Tuesday’s plenary session.
The lawmaker said intelligence at the disposal of the government shows the shortage is a result of deliberate sabotage by some elements. He added that some fuel stations sell for as high as N300 per litre in some states.
The majority of those gas stations have started charging more than N300 per litre for fuel. This unsightly event has the potential to incite uninformed Nigerians against the government, as it is seen with dismay that those who stand to profit from the manufactured fuel shortage appear to be grinning at home as a result.
In order to guarantee adherence to the resolution, the House mandated the Committees on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) and Legislative Compliance.
