Just In : popular Presidential candidate finally agreed to step down on a simple term
The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has said that he would step down from the presidential race on one simple condition.
According to a publication on ThisDay, the former Governor of Kano State said that the only thing that would make him to step aside from the race is if the New Nigeria People’s Party gets a better presidential candidate, but for now, he is still the best.
Kwankwaso who also said that he is not desperate to run for the presidency also said that Nigerians must elect the next president on the basis of competence, and not on the basis of religion or ethnicity.
He made it clear that he was hopeful of emerging as the next president of Nigeria as he has worked in the political space for over 30 years, adding that the party had already established a stronghold across the 19 states in the North. He also noted that what is left now is to make inroads in the South, which is what he has started with Enugu State. He also claimed that those who thought they would get up to 25 percent votes from Kano State would not even get up to 5 percent when the time comes.
He said that Nigerians now have alternatives from the two major political parties; the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party. He added that the above parties have failed Nigerians multiple times, adding that the All Progressives Congress has proven to be the worst so far.
To ensure the security of lives and property in Nigeria, Kwankwaso promised that his administration would increase the number of soldiers from less than 250,000 to one million and the number of police, also from less than 230,000 to one million.
He promised that under his watch, there would be no cases of oil theft, saying that he was the Minister of Defense under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and within that period, they made sure that there were no cases of oil theft. He added that they were even looking for those who wanted to engage in such activities.
