Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, stated that the remains of the late musician, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, may be exhumed for autopsy.

Hundeyin made this statement on Thursday night during an Instagram live session with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze. He was addressing questions regarding the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s passing.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Muyiwa Adejobi, also emphasized in a statement on Thursday that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the musician’s death.

“The Force PRO issued a statement this evening (Thursday) saying that investigation will commence and that’s what we’re going to do,” Hundeyin said.

“If need be, the body will be exhumed. It’s not too late. The body can be exhumed and autopsy can be performed.

“The statement also states that people should bring whatever information they have to the commissioner of police in Lagos State.

“That’s because we don’t want to do hierarchy anymore. Take it to Force CID, bring it to Lagos Command. It doesn’t matter. We’re going to harmonise it within ourselves and ensure that justice is done.”

The Police have also encouraged family members or close associates of the late Afrobeats musician with valuable information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in this process.

They have also requested that individuals refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation as people’s trust and support are deeply valued.

There has been controversy over the death of Mohbad with some on social media pointing accusing fingers at his former record label, Marlian Records and the owner, Naira Marley as well as Sam Larry.

This became heated after it was disclosed on X that Mohbad actually reported the Sam Larry led assault and threat to his life to the Police in a letter dated June 27, 2023
