Just In : Police Parade 11 For Kidnapping, Robbery, Others In Sokoto
The Sokoto State Police Command has paraded 11 suspects for various criminal offences which include kidnapping among others.
Speaking while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Sokoto, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Kaigama, said the suspects were arrested across the state between July and September this year.
He said three suspects, Aliyu Abubakar, Abdullahi Umar and one Ayuba Magaji, were arrested with one AK49 rifle, two magazines loaded with 15 live ammunition, a locally fabricated pistol with 12 rounds of live ammunition, a Kasea motorcycle and nine GSM phones suspected to belong to kidnapped people
The CP said the command also arrested one Dauda Ahmad, “a renowned bandits and kidnapper who has been terrorising Runjin Sambo, Gidan Igawi, Gidan Dare and Kwalkwala area of Sokoto metropolis.
“The suspects who led the police to Kwalkwala area to recover arms hidden in the bush were attacked by the gang members of the suspects and in an attempt to escape was hit by the bullet and was confirmed dead in UDUTH while three of his gang members were arrested in the process.”
He also announced the arrest of one Isah Abubakar of Shinaka village in Goronyo Local Government who has terrorising Goronyo, Wurno, Wamakko and Bodinga LGAs, and was nabbed in possession of one fabricated revolver gun.
The command has also announced the recovery of a bag containing 390 rounds of AK47 rifle from suspects who fled on a sighting patrol vehicle. He also announced the recovery of abandoned unregistered motorcycles along Huss village in Gudu LGAs.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Police also announced the arrest of three suspects for bribing police detectives with the sum of 800,000 naira in respect of vandalizing and stealing of cable wires worth over N17 million in Bodinga, Shagari and Wamakko local government area and selling same to Ibrahim Abdullahi Danfata and Bello Zamzam.
Also paraded by the police are one Sani Mohammed, Rabilu Abubakar, Mustapha Zayyanu and Nura Mohammed who were identified by a cyclist Yusuf Mohammed of Mabera for deceitfully strangled him with a rope and dispossessed him of his Tecno phone, cash of 7,000 and a Boxer motorcycle valued at 545,000 naira.
